Overview

Contemporary Art auctions are held in New York during November and May, London in October and June and Hong Kong in April and October. Other Contemporary Art auctions are held in Paris, Milan and Doha.
In addition to auctions, Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Department organises selling exhibitions and private sales of fine paintings, drawings, photographs and installations by a wide range of artists and schools from early Abstract Expressionism through to the present day.
Following a record-breaking year in Hong Kong which saw 62% growth in total sales compared to 2020, achieving HK$2.7 billion/ US$346 million in sales in 2021, Sotheby’s Hong Kong continues to lead the market in Western Contemporary art and establish new world records for international young talents.
