Designed as a panther swimming in water, with cabochon emerald eyes and black enamel spots, to the carved lapis lazuli highlighted with red enamel leaves, mounted in 18 karat yellow gold, signed Cartier, numbered, French assay and maker's marks.
Signed Cartier Paris, numbered 019264. Stamped 750 with French assay marks for 18 karat yellow gold, with Cartier's maker's marks. Emerald is medium slightly yellowish green of medium strong saturation, with typical natural inclusions, some surface reaching with minor nicks and abrasions. Some loss of black enamel on the paws and head, mainly on the nose as small traces remain. Minor loss of red enamel at the bottom of the leaf. Lapis lazuli is overall in very good condition. Signs of wear to metal commensurate with use, some signs of adhesive where it meets the lapis lazuli but not noticeable when worn. Overall in very good condition.
